Up to now, we organized 3 Learning Journeys to Silicon Savannah (January 2018, September 2018, January 2019). 35 people visited Nairobi. With different programs, but the same structure:
Day 1 – Approaching
Between 2000 and 2015 Sub-Sahara‘s economies have grown threefold, income per capita has doubled. Extreme poverty has come down from almost two thirds of the population to one third.
Day 2 – Digital Africa
The ubiquity of mobile phones has jump-started Africa’s digital transformation. In the early 2000s, the rolling out of mobile phone networks has given access to communication to several hundreds million people. A few years later, “mobile banks” have given them access to the money economy.
Day 3 – Urban Africa
Alongside huge challenges, new economic opportunities and social changes are emerging. Africa’s middle class of currently 400 million people is deemed to double or even triple in the next 15 years.
Day 4 – Co-Creation
The environment has changed, African-European relations will have to change.
