Investment Opportunities in Africa

Are African countries becoming a showcase for an entrepreneurial society?

Despite a lack of infrastructure, sometimes poorly functioning governments and despite development aid, which is preserving old structures rather than renewing them? Or is it because of all that? Because the private sector has to watch out for new ways to succeed and develop?

A total of 442 active incubators, accelerators, and co-working spaces were recorded on the continent early this year. Alone in 2017, 128 new tech hubs were created .

“African entrepreneurs are leveraging tech & digital to tackle the continent’s fundamental challenges, they are the leading innovators in key verticals, leapfrogging usages, and Venture Capital has become the core catalyst to these opportunities”, writes Cyril Collon from Partech Ventures.

In 2017 venture capital funding in Africa reached USD 560 million, after USD 367 in 2015 and USD 277 in 2015. South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria are the continent’s top destinations.
